Outborn Agent Platform · Step-by-step guide
Knowledge
Build reusable Knowledge Bases from approved content with indexing, semantic retrieval, permissions, and source citation.
Before you begin
- Collect approved documents and identify their owner and audience.
Follow the workflow
- 01
Create or select a Knowledge Base
Use a Knowledge Base in the intended Space and confirm who can read it.
- 02
Add source content
Upload or connect approved material, then allow extraction and indexing to complete where configured.
- 03
Attach it to an agent
Give the agent access to the Knowledge Base rather than copying protected content into instructions.
- 04
Ask a source-check question
Verify that the answer cites the expected material and does not imply access to unrelated documents.
The agent retrieves relevant approved knowledge and the reader can inspect its source.
Check indexing state, source format, Space access, and the agent's Knowledge Base grant.
Applied guidance
Best practices for knowledge
Recommended
- Name the source owner, audience, and review date before indexing content.
- Check that retrieval cites the expected document and excludes unrelated protected material.
Avoid
- Do not paste restricted documents into agent instructions as a substitute for source permissions.
01
Knowledge Bases
Use Knowledge Bases for reusable unstructured or document-oriented context that should be searched semantically.
02
Uploads
Upload only content the organization is permitted to store and process.
03
Indexing
Index content so relevant passages can be retrieved without placing entire source files into every prompt.
04
Semantic retrieval
Retrieval selects relevant context by meaning rather than relying only on exact keyword matches.
05
Supported content
Supported formats and ingestion behavior depend on the current product ingestion pipeline.
06
Permissions
Knowledge access follows organization, Space, source, and sharing permissions.
07
Source citation
Responses should retain enough source identity for users to inspect where relevant claims came from.
08
Re-indexing
Re-index when source content materially changes or when ingestion/indexing settings require a refresh.
