Applied guidance
Best practices for security & governance
Recommended
- Enforce authorization where data and tools are accessed, not only in the interface.
- Use least privilege, protected credentials, approvals for consequential writes, and reviewable activity history.
Avoid
- Do not treat a connected system or model provider as inside the same trust boundary as Outborn Account.
01
Identity and SSO
Organization identity and supported SSO controls establish who can enter the product and which organization context they act within.
02
Organization boundaries
Resources remain scoped to their owning organization and permitted Spaces.
03
Permissions
Product permissions should be enforced where resources and tools are accessed, not only hidden in the interface.
04
Credential storage
Connection credentials and provider sessions are sensitive secrets and should remain protected server-side.
05
Least privilege
Grant only the scopes, tools, data, and actions required for the intended workflow.
06
Approval-gated actions
Keep consequential external changes visible and waiting for human authorization when approval is required.
07
Audit history
Material administrative and execution events should remain inspectable for operational and governance review.
08
Data handling
Data access should follow source ownership, organization policy, retention expectations, and applicable contractual controls.
09
Model and provider boundaries
Hosted AI, Provider Subscription, and Provider API use different access and commercial boundaries. Provider terms still apply to provider-owned services.
10
External integrations
An external integration retains its own provider permissions and availability even when accessed through OutbornAI.
11
Governance
Governance combines identity, access, provider policy, source control, approvals, auditability, and operational ownership.
